My Machine Gun Ranger
I'm just wondering if this works for a machine gun Ranger. Be sure to read the whole thing before replying.
First of, I would just like to say that I only have Prophecies. So maybe that's why it seems my build sucks so bad.
Now, here's the build:
Expertise: 12+1
Marksmanship: 9+1+1
Wilderness Survival: 5+1
Fire Magic: 8
The reason I want 13 expertise is so that my spam skill will only cost 2 Energy.
Skills:
Quickshot {E}
Savage Shot
Distracting Shot
Mark of Rodgort
Ignite Arrows
Conjure Flame
Troll Unguent
Resurrection Signet
Equips:
Fiery Bow
Druidic Armor
What a lot of people don't know is that Conjure Flame will work 2x as much if you have Ignite Arrows, which counts as completely separate damage (unlike Kindle Arrows), and a fiery bow. Mark of Rodgort is just to set enemies on fire. If I can ever find a place to farm with this build, I will raise expertise to 12+1+1 play around with my stats to have a higher Wilderness Survival, remove Quickshot {E}, Savage Shot, Distracting Shot, and Resurrection Signet and add in Escape, Lightning Reflexes, Whirling Defense, and Dryder's Defenses. But most likely this build won't be able to farm, and I'll just get Spike Trap, Barbed Trap, Flame Trap, and Dust Trap and get Mountain Trolls.

This is a great build for ranger/ele if you had barrage as elite the damage would be off the charts.

If you had barrage, then ignite arrows would also be off the charts.

Just use normal Pew Pew Ranger, it wasn't affected by nerfs. But if you have proph only, go with barrage. Without spells.

I didn't know conjure flame added damage to the 'exploding' damage. Seems weird.

Have had a little experience with similar builds and IMO the conjure flame barrage works well but the ignite arrow doesn't.
Max points in fire gives +17 damage with Max points in Barrage you are going to get around 120 damage per hit.
Here the bow damage + 21 for barrage + x from conjure flame does well
Ignite arrows on a mob will give one large number and lots of smaller ones typically 80 9 9 9 9 9
Where the large number is the bow + conjure and the others are just from the ignite.
Kindle does a little better on one target 90 19
90 is bow + conjure the 19 is the kindle
Point is the conjure adds to the bow damage only.
The Mark of Rodgort is a great idea if it can be fitted into my build I will have a go.

Barrage can't utilize preparations.

There's nothing new there.. been around for the last three years.
Anyway... replace Quick Shot with Barrage, and replace Ignite with a stance.. then you'll be in decent shape for a Proph ranger.
Using a fiery string... Mark of Rod and Conjure Flame triggers on each of the Barrage arrows... Lots more damage than what you are doing now.

I am not an expert ranger (I have factions so io I basically run Barrage Rit or BHA) but wouldn't MoR take a massive amount of your energy because it is unaffected by expertise.

Actually, I like the way this works with Quick Shot more than Barrage, but either one you choose there's still one thing I'd change about this build: Drop Wilderness and take out Troll Unguent. Let the monks take care of you. I'd drop the attributes gained from that into Marksmanship or Fire. Then in placement of Troll I'd take take either a stance or Favorable Winds. Favorable Winds may help with your "machine gun" idea by adding a little more dps and making your arrows fly faster.
That's all I've got. Even with Quick Shot, I think this build is still pretty decent.

Problem: this is PvE. There's hardly any monks looking for parties. And I don't trust healer henchmen after about the 16th accident in 3 weeks yesterday.

Problem is human monks have been treated pretty badly by parties in the past so finding one is difficult.
Using henchmen healers works as long as the party stick together split up and any henchman will lose focus on what they are doing.
But if you take a party with no self healing and depend on a henchman for all heals and resurrections then your toast.
